Welcome

Waste-CAN is working on tracking Marion County's update of their Master Plan for Municipal Waste. This process will be continuing over the next 6 months through the Marion County Solid Waste Management Advisory Committee (SWMAC). The committee meets every 4th Tuesday of the month and will be discussing a new chapter each month. You can see the original plan at the Marion County Environmental Services website and the proposed changes at the SWMAC web link. To learn more go to http://www.kaltwasser.com/wastecan

Why Citizens are concerned about Covanta emissions....

the continuing absence of any epidemiological or environmental studies of the effect of the toxic emissions on human health or the natural environment downwind from the WTEF, the value of using the accumulation of multiple years of WTEF toxic emissions, as well as the environmental toxins from other sources, as part of the equation to determine what the WTEF permit limits should be, the absence of any monitoring at all for a number of other toxins that are almost certainly emitted from the WTEF, and the unnecessarily high limits set for some toxins.
